Our Mission
At Project Caring, our mission is to empower residents to live their best quality of life—while maintaining their independence. We do this by providing compassionate healthcare and personalized support in a warm, home-like setting designed to feel safe, familiar, and uplifting.
Rooted in Care, Built on Trust
Project Caring is a fully licensed assisted living facility operating out of a spacious 10-bedroom home in the peaceful surroundings of West Lakeland Township, near Stillwater, Minnesota. Since opening our doors in 2008, we’ve been dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized care in a warm, residential setting.
In November 2018, Elevated Assisted Living took over operations, continuing our mission with the same heart and commitment to excellence. We are proudly licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health (Facility ID #36908), ensuring our residents receive care that meets the highest standards.

About the Owner
David Itman is the Owner and Director of Project Caring. With a Bachelor of Science in Housing Studies from the University of Minnesota, David envisioned a more thoughtful, engaging approach to assisted living—one that prioritizes dignity, comfort, and connection in a home-like setting.
David has continued to advance his expertise in the field, completing the LeadingAge Housing Manager Certificate Program and fulfilling the state’s requirements for Assisted Living Director licensure. With over 15 years of hands-on experience, he remains deeply committed to delivering the highest quality of care—and, in turn, the highest quality of life—for every resident at Project Caring.

As a designated 55+ community, Project Caring maintains a resident population where at least 80% are aged 55 or older. But age is just a number—what truly defines our community is the vibrant, supportive lifestyle we foster every day.
We’re committed to creating a peaceful and engaging environment where residents feel at home and inspired. From daily social activities to outings in the greater Stillwater area, we encourage everyone to stay active, connected, and involved. We provide transportation and hands-on support to help residents explore the community and pursue meaningful experiences.
Our regularly scheduled activities include:

- Scenic boat rides on the St. Croix River

At Project Caring, every meal is thoughtfully prepared to nourish both body and spirit. Our daily menu is crafted by a professional chef and dietitian, ensuring each dish is both delicious and nutritionally balanced. Meals are made fresh, in-house, in our state-licensed kitchen, with alternate options available to suit individual tastes and dietary needs.
We take pride in curating our menu to reflect the preferences of our residents—because food should feel like home. And throughout the day, residents can enjoy a variety of snacks, both healthy and (occasionally) indulgent.
